Very depressing and concerning to see the erosion of democratic norms around the world even among democracies. The institutional abdication of powers to uphold checks and balances in the US, an unauthorized attempt to impose martial law in the ROK, brawling in Taiwan's legislature, an attempt to overturn election results in Brazil. And the sense that these norms will erode further as our polities become increasingly polarized. The political creep towards the far-right and left and collapse of the middle (EU election results) is a dangerous trend that is difficult to reverse. Extremism begets extremism. You are absolutely correct that we should expect our politicians to model appropriate behavior for their citizenry. The authoritarians are watching...
Sad to see this craziness when the world is watching.
This is crazy behaviour, maybe they need a parliamentary rule that anyone touching anyone else loses their seat?
Maybe not a terrible idea.certainly some sort of consequences!
