I don't think things will go back to the old ways about energy, either. Trump has challenged the entire conversation about how we use energy, and I don't think it is going back to the old conversation anytime soon.

The relationship between Europeans and the US was beneficial to Americans too, whether they acknowledge it or not. I think there are going to be plenty of regrets states-side.

Good article! From here in Europe, solidarity with the trauma. I personally always thought Taiwan seemed like in a dream world. Now I'm a little shocked to realize that Europe was also in a dream world! For long, I dimly sensed the post-WWII order was a dream like The Man in the High Castle book, but I didn't get it like I do now. Anyway, these were mostly very nice dreams... So here's to waking up, just a bit, and hoping for the best, and doing all we can to make it happen.
