It's been noted for a long time in asexual communities (I'm asexual) that asexuals and bisexuals have some problems in common (such as the hella mistaken assumption that everyone simply must ~really~ be straight or gay, no exceptions). By coincidence, the protagonist of the novel I'm drafting is bi (though that will be more obvious in the sequels).

Thanks for writing against bi erasure.

Happy Pride Month!

Potential conflict in a contested borderland, are you sure it’s not about Taiwan?

Having spent some time in the Bisexual Borderlands, I get it. I think it’s important for people to be able to explore without needing to define an identity. But when they settle on one side or another, they should remember that some settle in the borderland itself.

I didn't read this post. I'm here for your cultural, strategic, and generational insights into Taiwan, not to voyeur into the privacy of your personal life. So I did what everyone is free to do: I made a choice, and in my case I chose not to read this post.

That said, I want to commend your courage for publicizing and defending your life-style. We live in an odd time. Today's culture wars are re-writing established prejudices and there is much to be optimistic in this, but it seems the open minded willingness to examine biases is not granted to all. Some prejudices are relaxing, others are not.

Cheers to you. I hope you receive support and and not grief.

PS. It's not true I didn't read this post. Of course I did. I would read most anything you wrote. Your perspective, your logic, the clarity and unapologetic sassy writing style--it's all brilliantly informative and entertaining. But I didn't make a promise not to lie in my comments on this blog, though I'm generally honest in the end.

Happy to see messages of support.

Why the frog? Wednesday is frog day for the Reddit meme brigade.

For me, the most annoying thing about being bi in a long-term hetero relationship is the erasure. Apparently I'm not bi because I happened to discover my sexuality while already committed to a very understanding and open person who I love and who I'd never consider cheating on (even though she put that option on the table when I came out to her!). It's ridiculous. Yeah, so I'm not a multi-instrumentalist just because I happen to be playing drums almost exclusively these days while the bass gathers dust. But I just try to let it wash over me and remember I have it incredibly easy compared to a hell of a lot of other people in my shoes.
